The Municipality of Sta. Praxedes as the smallest town of the Province of
Cagayan is strategically situated being the Gateway to the Ilocos Region. Being
surrounded by the Caraballo and Cordillera Mountain Ranges has earned the
municipality the tagline, "sta. praxedes: the greenest garden of the North".
Ever since she was a child, Esterlina a. aguinaldo dreamt of serving her
town and makes a legacy being a true – blooded Praxedenian. She knows that
her beloved hometown has been endowed with abundant natural resources
and the resiliency of its people will make Sta. Praxedes a progressive town.
Before entering the world of politics, Ester served as Legislative Staff
Officer III at the Office of Hon. Roque R. Ablan, Jr, Representative of the
1st District of Ilocos Norte from 1993 – 2004. In the year 2004, she left her
work as Legislative Officer III and became the Scholarship Coordinator of
the Office of Hon. Florencio L. Vargas, Representative of the 2nd District
of Cagayan from 2004 – 2007. She is also a very active member of the
Alpha Phi Omega International Fraternity and Sorority (APO), Pugad
Lawin – Ilocos Norte and Lions Club International – District 301 C.
Mayor Aguinaldo earned the love, respect, trust and confidence of
Praxedenians as manifested by a landslide victory for the Mayoralty
post in the 2007 Elections and became the youngest Mayor and the 3rd
lady Mayor of Sta. Praxedes. She etched another milestone when she
won unopposed for her 2nd term in the 2010 Elections and another
landslide victory for her 3rd term in the 2013 Elections. She is currently
the Secretary of the League of Municipalities of the Philippines – Cagayan
Chapter, a position she’s been holding for two consecutive terms and
elected Business Manager of the National League of Officers of the Lady
Municipal Mayors Association of the Philippines (LMMAP) in 2010
up to present. With her meritorious accomplishments, the Alpha Phi
Omega Fraternity and Sorority Laoag City, Ilocos Norte Alumni Chapter
conferred on her the APOLINAC Excellence Award to Public Service.
