FOREWORD lection fever is upon us once again, a good
year and half before the actual elections.
ENational candidate’s waste no time promoting
themselves on media be it for direct advertising and
appearing as guests on multiple talk shows. The more
aggressive approach for some is to stay the news by
weighing in on national issues and if necessary, to be
controversial. These are all but strategies to keep the
awareness of name recall in time for the elections.
But what is it that gets a candidate elected?

Most times your constituents demand more and
above the mandate you are asking for, so much so
many require to educate them on pending issues and

positions. National legislation is not an executive
position most think it is and demand you address
their requirements rather than to study and take
position for their good and for nation building. While
we elect per district and party list, Congress is a
national responsibility.

Legislation is never immediately rewarding, if
anything it is always forward looking. Study and
analysis with a crystal clear comprehension of issues
at hand is a requirement. But how else can one
promote one’s expertise and success when there is
no understanding of the work at hand?

The Annual Outstanding Congressman Award
is a testament uncontested that celebrates the
