Outstanding Local Legislator Award 2016

FOREWORD ur Local Legislators are composed of the Vice Governor and
its Board Members, the Vice Mayor and his Councilors. The
Omandate dictates they form local laws and ordinances to keep
the Provinces, the Cities and the Municipalities humming like the
tune of combustible engine. However easy it may seem to keep these
gears in place, there will always remain the odd cylinder that will
go against the synchronicity be it for sake of the people or politics
itself. Our Republic is born out of a democracy that has created our
institutions to accelerate the pace of prosperity for the people. This
is no easy task with the mechanism in place to cause a disruption
amongst the contested positions. Politics is everywhere. And this is
how the job made easy becomes a nightmare.

Legislation by itself dictates the study of problems that are bereft
of the community with policies set in place to address the very issues.
And yet this is not enough to the very people who are made to elect
you in these positons. The community oddly requires a personal touch,
face time and a prize if need be for them to understand what it is you
are elected into. One is measured not by the duties he or she performs
but by the personality, your celebrity status or the perception you can
generate to make the people aware of who and what you are. This
becomes the problem.

Local Legislators are exactly that, local legislators and yet the
task at hand asks for so much more. You are made out to be local
executives providing for the people whatever they require regardless
of your mandated position. In this country Local Legislators do both
and more. You are Local Legislators and both; the shoulders to cry on,
the robin hood of the community, the guardians of the galaxy if need
be and most of all, their leaders.

To live with the people and to keep them cohesive and in tune is
what our Local Legislators need to do daily.
